  13. Hi folks,

  15. I wonder if anyone can help me with my latest TCP/IP quandry.  I've been
  16. running AMosaic (v2.0b3) for months with just the occassional lock-up or
  17. "unable to connect to remote host" here and there.  A few weeks ago,
  18. AMosaic started failing to connect TO ANY remote hosts...:-(
  19.  
  20. Specifically, AMosaic starts up as usual and reads my local HTML page. As
  21. soon as I try to connect to any host, it says that it is sending it's
  22. request to the remote host. At that point a number of things happen to my
  23. TCP/IP setup:
  24.  
  25. 1] After a while, AMosaic will come back and say that it is uable to connect
  26.    to that host. Any other requests will do the same. Quitting AMosaic seems
  27.    to work fine.

  29. 2] More critically, AmiTCP seems to flake out. Specifically, it fails to
  30.    communicate with anything on the InterNet. All clients cannot find any
  31.    things on the net.

  33. 3] Ping fails. I have a ping command (started in startnet) that pings my ISP
  34.    every 30secs to deter them timing out my account. At the time of the
  35.    first failed AMosaic request, that ping command starts popping up a
  36.    console window with an error about something like not being able to get
  37.    enough buffer space.

  39. 4] PPP seems to continue running. The modem stays connected. (BTW, I'm
  40.    running 1.30 registered)
  41.  
  42. 5] Running the "StopNet" script causes my Amiga to lock-up.

  44. I have reisnstalled AMosaic v2.0b3 and installed the old v2.0b1, to no
  45. avail.  I have even tried running IBrowse and encountered the same problems.

  47. Can anyone tell me where the problem may be. I've checked my startnet script
  48. for any changes which might affect things (installing a usno time_set?). I
  49. have been looking at my ENV: settings and can't find anything suspicious
  50. there. I have run Enforcer/SegTracker and found nothing to occur when things
  51. go bad.

  53. I've been guessing that AMosaic/IBrowse are doing something which is causing
  54. AmiTCP to flake out.  I'd really appreciate it if anyone can tell me what
  55. might be the problem!
